Regulators
Regulators are a simple, yet integral part of any fuel system, allowing the buildup of pressure to a specified amount before diverting fuel back to the tank. They are found both on carbureted and EFI fuel systems due in large part to the widespread availability of electronic fuel pumps. Simple and affordable, electric fuel pumps continually draw fuel until pressure becomes so great the turbines cannot turn. It is the job of the regulator to alleviate the pressure by diverting/bypassing fuel back to the tank, resulting in a controllable fuel pressure in the lines that can then be delivered to the carburetor or fuel injectors.
