Buggy/Tunnel Fuel CellOver the years we've built countless custom "tunnel" and "tube" style fuel cells for rear engine vehicles, such as buggies. And while the designs varied in size and shape, they were all trying to overcome a common problem: the "side-shifter". Previous generation standard "tunnel" cells were designed with a small, centered tunnel to accommodate "center-shift" style transmissions (with the shift rod coming out of the front, top 'center' of the transmission). As transmission and vehicle design have progressed over the years the market has seen the introduction of the 'side-shifting' transmission, another issue to be handled. Facing this challenge, we sought to develop a modern fuel cell to solve this problem.
In our ceaseless efforts to cater to our customer's needs, we developed our own standard 'tunnel' style fuel cell to accommodate both center- and side-shifting transmissions. These designs utilize an extra-wide tunnel that is slightly off-center to allow the use of either a center or side-shifter. These cells also maintain the same, or similar, footprint as previous generational fuel cells, allowing them to be used in older vehicles designed for a previous generation tunnel cell*. Additionally, the hardware setup can be easily upgraded to accommodate nearly any application or accessory. The fill neck and check valve plates can be easily swapped or replaced to accommodate a dual fill system or sending unit; the bottom pickups can be upgraded to fit any size fitting up to AN-10; and the bladder can be equipped with an internal collector and low-profile pickups to ensure maximum fuel delivery at minimal fuel level over the most extreme terrain your vehicle can handle. The extreme versatility this cell offers has made it a favorite with SCORE Class 10 vehicles in addition to the non-race buggy market. |
